Best friends Mandy and Melissa are teaming up to open the new F45 Training Siesta Key, off Bee Ridge and 41. Mandy worked as a stay at home mom, but started personal training out of her home, while Melissa is the former owner of the Sarasota Pure Barre location, and an amazing interior designer. Together they will team up with their fitness expertise and launch Sarasota’s third F45 location.
How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
Mandy: 3 Boys- 9,7,4
Melissa: 2 Boys- 10, 8
What do you love about living in the Sarasota area?
Mandy: The beach and the tight knit community feel
Melissa: I grew up in Sarasota, so this is and always will be home to me. I love the pace of life, the beach and the community.
What’s your favorite restaurant and place to shop in Sarasota?
Mandy: Apollonia & Marmalade Boutique
Melissa: Gosh, that’s a hard one. My favorite restaurant would probably be Shore. Influence Style is my go to shopping destination.
Tell us about your career
Mandy: I was a stay at home mom for 9 years. I recently started personal training out of my home, and now I’m getting ready to open a new F45 franchise in Sarasota.
Melissa: My first, and most important job, is being a mom and wife. I am also the owner of my own interior design company, Melissa DeMore Designs. And now owner of F45 Siesta Key!
What are some of your Hobbies
Mandy: Fitness, spending time with friends and family, boating, and going to the beach.
Melissa: Obviously living in Sarasota I love to be at the beach or on the boat. Right now the boys are deep into travel baseball so we spend a lot of time at the baseball fields. Any day that I get to be with family and friends, watching my boys run around and play is a good day!
How do you juggle work and motherhood?
Mandy: This is something that I’m new to, and I’m learning everyday. I try to be very selective with what I say yes to outside of work and being a mom. If it adds stress or takes away from quality time with my kids then it’s usually a no.
Melissa: I am lucky enough to have businesses that still allow me to have a flexible schedule that allows me to drop my kids off at school and pick them up. I also have a husband and parents that are a huge help. But it really comes down to just having an organized plan for the day that allows me to get everything done.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve received from another mom?
Mandy: “Put it in the therapy jar” – This is a funny saying I heard from another mom recently, regarding raising kids. it’s impossible to be a perfect mom 100% of the time. There are things that happen that our outside of our control. Sometimes you just have to hope for the best, or “just put it in the therapy jar.” 😉
Melissa: “They won’t still be sleeping in your bed when they go to college”- I embrace all the things now because it goes so fast!
