As The Local Moms Network closes out Mental Health Awareness Month in May, we want to share an important reminder from psychologist and contributor Reon Baird-Feldman, PhD.
#MoreThanEnough is a message of hope campaigned by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for Mayβs Mental Health Awareness Month. Itβs intention is to remind us that we are worthy of value and fulfillment. As mothers we often juggle guilt, anxiety, lack of sleep, deferred dreams, and feelings of inadequacy and/or self doubt. The societal and self-induced expectations we carry impact our work, relationships, child(ren), self-care and our ability to feel whole.Β
Letβs shed the pressures placed on us and define motherhood in our own terms.
I challenge every mother to find a moment every day for the rest of this month to remember that you are #morethanenough.
If you are a single mom, you are #morethanenough
If you are a working mom, you are #morethanenough
If you are a divorced mom, you are #morethanenough
If you are a stay-at-home mom, you are #morethanenough
If you are battling an illness, you are #morethanenough
No matter your background, race, socioeconomic status, education, ability; you show up, authentically, and that is #morethanenough.
