Future of Dance – New Dance Studio Opens in Sarasota!
Melissa Dobbs, Founder of Metropolitan School of the Arts in Washington, DC recently relocated to Sarasota, Florida and launched a brand new dance studio, FUTURE OF DANCE. She has taught nearly 10,000 students over the past two decades, many who have gone on to be professionals in the field or have matriculated to some of the most prestigious performing arts colleges in the world. As a student of Harvard Extension school, Dobbs has a passion for psychology and growing healthy brains through movement and music and aims to teach dance differently. Over the past 20 years, she developed a curriculum from her research in neuroscience and somatics that confirmed the connection between dance and the overall quality of people’s lives. Dance has been scientifically proven to increase positive brain function in children and adults alike.

FUTURE OF DANCE PROGRAMS INCLUDE:
STUDIO PROGRAM
Dance and movement classes for all ages in a state of the art studio location in Sarasota, Florida. The studio program includes dance and movement programs for children and Pilates, yoga and wellness programs for adults.
OUTREACH PROGRAM
After school dance classes for children ages 3 to 12 on location at preschools, elementary schools and community centers.
FUTURE OF DANCE ENSEMBLE
A dedicated group of students who perform in special events and performances throughout the year including Santa’s Frosty Follies and an annual Spring Production.
DAYTIME LEARNING PROGRAM
Movement is the key to learning. Movement combined with creativity is the key to a healthy and fulfilled life. We’ve developed an innovative daytime program for children in grades K-8 rooted in movement, music, theater and nature to support the development of skilled technicians, critical thinkers, successful collaborators, inventive creators and thoughtful responders.
ADAPTIVE SENSORY INTEGRATION
Sensory friendly classes with a therapeutic approach to applied movement interventions designed to address both sensory integration issues and body-based psychotherapy concerns.
INSTITUTE FOR MOVEMENT MEDICINE
The movement research and teacher training institute that informs all of the Future of Dance programming, rooted in the fields of neuroscience, somatics, frequency studies, quantum physics and studies of the natural world.
