Introducing Pitter Patter SRQ!
What is your business/store?
Our store is called Pitter Patter SRQ. Right now we have one location which is located right on the corner of Bee Ridge and Tuttle, at 3815 S Tuttle Ave Sarasota, FL 34239.
How long have you been in business?
The store itself has been there since 1996! It was originally opened by two sisters, and now my husband (Jon) and I are running it. We took it over in December of 2019, fully remodeled, and reopened as the same store but just with new owners and a new look in January of 2020.
What do you sell?
We are an Upscale Children’s Resale shop, and we sell all kinds of kid’s and baby goods, as well as maternity clothing. We have everything from clothing and shoes, to toys, games and movies, baby gear, carriers, strollers, pack n plays, cribs/nursery furniture, bouncers, jumpers, and so much more!
What challenges did you face in 2020 and what did you learn?
Boy, 2020 has been quite the year for us! When we reopened in January, we never imagined having to shut down just two months later for a pandemic! That was pretty tough. If ever we have realized how important our consignors and local shoppers are, it’s now! We are so thankful for all of the loyal local shoppers we have! And we are looking forward to all of our out of state friends coming back too! We’ve also realized how big of a part of our business they have too, and we value each and every one of them.
What are you looking forward to in 2021?
We’re really looking forward to all of the new faces we are going to meet and seeing how our store may be transformed throughout this unusual time. We’ve come to realize so many people don’t know that we are still here after all these years, and a lot don’t realize we are here at all, so we are looking forward to getting that word out more. We love being part of our community and now more than ever we are trying to find ways to impact it greater. We really hope to host more local events and showcase more local parents businesses. That’s something we’ve been wanting to do, but 2020 slowed down… so hopefully 2021 won’t get in our way! We’re also excited to finally be able to offer rentals on certain items for our traveling friends, which is something they’ve been asking for for awhile now!
Do you offer any curbside or delivery service?
Unfortunately we haven’t found a great way to make online services work for our business because of the uniqueness of the consignment aspect. We’re thinking of new ways we could improve this, but as of right now we are just welcoming all of our friends into our store through our current temporary hours.
